Love is in the air… every month, in fact, at the Hare & Hounds, Speen, where business is booming as never before. Having opened in January 2015 The Barn Restaurant at the inn, a green-oak framed building, purpose built as a dining and wedding function room with seating for more than 100, enjoyed a tremendously successful year, hosting more than 19 weddings.
The Barn at the Inn, which also has 30 ensuite bedrooms both in the main building and around the gardens, is already fully booked for 2016. As proprietor Jonathan Nelsey, who runs this former 18th-century coaching inn on the Bath Road with his wife Jean, explained, “ We will only cater for 3 weddings per month and a maximum of 23 per year. This keeps the enjoyment of these special days for all here, and protects the integrity of The Barn’s main trade as a restaurant”. So, if you are planning a wedding for next year, it would be wise to book early.

What you can expect when you do is the very best in personal service. “Here we don’t just offer a choice of menus,” says Jonathan, “we personalise them, so couples can get exactly what they want.”
