The White Oak, Maidenhead description
Pub / Restaurant
Medium (1-150)
When we started out we had a simple plan – to open the best Country Pub Restaurant we could. Our background was in London, Katherine and I both grew up locally and we wanted to return to the area to bring up our young family and settle!
The White Oak used to be called The White Hart and then more recently Spencers. Strangely not named after our famous local artist here in Cookham but after the landlord’s son! We chose to call it The White Oak to respect the history of the site as well as to reflect our new direction.
We opened The White Oak in Cookham in November 2008 after a 24-week build and refurbish; you can see where the extension starts and the old building finishes. The White Oak has a sister ‘Oak’ called ‘The Three Oaks’ in Gerrard’s Cross which opened in July 2011.
In 2012 we were all delighted to receive a Michelin Bib Gourmande at The White Oak (and again in 2013/14). A real pat on the back for all our team. We were thrilled to receive this award that champions good food and service but at a reasonable price! We also have 2AA Rosettes, and proudly feature in the Good Food guide.
Although we’ve had plenty of plaudits at both ‘Oaks’ we are not resting on our laurels. We change our menus daily with our fantastic ‘Auberge’ Set Menu, the best value in Bucks and Berks we think! It is also available Monday to Saturday, Lunch and Dinner.
We also have a fabulous A La Carte and Sunday Lunch. We have won several awards at The White Oak and thank you to all those fabulous regulars who write to the guides and go online recommending us.
We want you to have a fantastic experience at the ‘Oaks’ and most of all to enjoy yourselves while you are with us. We would love your feedback, which you can leave when you visit, so we can keep improving with your help.
Our General Manager Marianne (Mo) and Chef Patron Clive are always very proactive and responsive to all feedback and requests. Also all communication goes straight to Katherine & I and we will always respond as quickly as we can.
