The Steam Inn, Mallaig description
Commercial Venue
Medium (1-150)
A warm and hearty welcome awaits you on arrival at The Steam Inn situated in the centre of Mallaig. A Fishing Village since the 1840’s, this tiny harbour was once the busiest Herring Port in Europe and with the arrival of the railway in the 20th century, combined with the location and stunning scenery Mallaig has been a “must see” destination for tourists and adventurers alike ever since.
“Taste of Scotland” award winner Michele Milligan recently acquired The Steam Inn in 2010 and with 26 years experience behind her has undertaken an extensive refurbishment, creating a Seafood/ Bistro serving excellent food for all tastes in a warm, inviting environment. A large & pleasant beer garden at the rear of the property is also a welcome addition.
A true family run establishment, mother like daughter Liz, took control of the second floor and with the same enthusiasm, the result was excellent accommodation consisting of two single rooms and three double/twin rooms, all ensuite.
If you have spent the day exploring the white sandy beaches and endless coastline, or visiting the small Isles of Eigg, Muck , Rhum & Canna, The Steam Inn Bar with its Real Ales, large selection of Malt Whiskys and open fire is a great venue to relax, unwind and meet the locals. Here you can also enjoy the regular Live Bands with traditional & modern music
Mallaig is also an excellent base to travel further abroad to Skye and the Inner/ Outer Hebrides.
