Welcome to Coul House Hotel...
Coul House is owned and operated by my wife and I, it is a beautiful country house secluded in the hills above Contin, Ross-shire. Centrally located in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, it is the perfect place to base oneself to rediscover all the romance and beauty of the area – certainly a destination where one should plan on staying for more than just a couple of nights!
Win a Luxury 2 night stay at Coul Hotel
The small village of Contin sits on the banks of the river Blackwater and is a fantastic spot for nature lovers with attractions including the Achilty forest with miles of bike and walking trails, Rogie waterfalls with salmon leaping throughout the summer, secluded lochs and abundant wildlife. Contin is just 17 miles north west of Inverness with the A835 the main road to Ullapool and the northern route to the Isle of Skye, Torridon and Applecross running through the heart of the village.
Susannah and I have been here since June 2003. As owners we are very proud of Coul House, not only as the custodians of its architectural beauty, but for the great feedback we receive from our guests about the relaxing atmosphere, beautiful food and our staff's natural passion for hospitality.
I trust you will enjoy the web site and we will get a chance to welcome you soon to Coul House.
WEDDINGS
for an intimate Highland Wedding, then Coul House will certainly fit the bill. Built in 1821 and thoughtfully positioned to offer commanding views of Strathconon and the mountains beyond, this historic Georgian mansion has grounds spread over eight acres with mature woods and acres of lawn. The house sits at the end of a half-mile gravel drive offering the peace and serenity many dream of.
Planning your wedding is all about choices and we certainly appreciate you considering hosting your special day here with us, at Coul House. Besides beautiful views and unique architecture we offer great food, genuine hospitality, and, essential to us, relaxed atmosphere to help celebrate one of the most important events of your life.
Coul House is licensed for civil ceremonies, for which we can offer a choice of rooms to cater for wedding parties from an intimate number of 2 to wedding receptions for up to 80 during the day and up to 140 in total in the evening.
The Octagonal room has an 18-foot high ornate ceiling, fireplace and three ceiling to floor windows with fabulous views of Strathconon and the mountains beyond. With lots of natural light, rich and sumptuous red curtains and gold walls, this is a beautiful room to hold your wedding.
The Regency Room has and a large expansive bay window which again provides lots of natural light and commanding views, 12-foot ornate ceiling and a beautiful fireplace. Decorated in muted green, with delicate rose pattern curtain and a 1920’s chandelier, this room provides the perfect backdrop for a small wedding ceremony or reception.
We offer a variety of room layouts from the traditional formal set-up to less formal setting with rounds tables depending on your final numbers and needs.
Every wedding is special and to help you make your day unique and truly memorable, we will put all our experience and passion together to ensure that a slightest detail is taken care of. We will happily provide you with the contact details of local wedding specialists, be it for flowers, cake, entertainment or wedding favours.
Myself or Chris would be delighted to have the opportunity to show you around the house and be on hand to discuss, help, and support you making sure the smallest details are exactly what you want.
