Want to be married on Iona? You can now be married at the stunning North End of the island, either on the beach below Iona Hostel (Traigh an t’suidhe) or in the hostel itself. We are now registered as the only beach wedding venue on the island.

We have had several weddings on the beach and in the hostel and they have been very happy events. Amazingly, the sun has shone for them all, but I can’t guarantee this ! Wedding dresses and wellies are a winning combination – just in case. The hostel is well suited for small groups of friends and family. Well hidden on the croft of Lagandorain, it allows groups to relax and enjoy time together in privacy.

Weddings tend to be on the beach, but the hostel is registered too as a wet weather venue. Although the hostel sleeps 22, the big room can accommodate 40 or 50 guests for a wedding ceremony or buffet. We also have the Byre for ceilidhs or festive spreads - and you can have a marquee on the beach if you wish. I’ll always try my best to find a good solution to what you require.

ACCOMMODATION

Iona Hostel is a single story building that sleeps 22 people. There are five bedrooms sleeping between two to six people in bunks or single beds. There are plenty of showers (one of which is designed for disabled access), and a drying room. The well equipped open-plan kitchen and living area has a wood-burning stove, windows on three sides and views to die for. We don't provide food, but there is a good food shop in the village.
