Thirlestane Castle description
Castle / Business Meeting Rooms / Historic Venue / Marquee Venue / Wedding Venue
Medium (1-150)
FASCINATING HISTORY
This hidden gem is one of the oldest and finest inhabited castles in Scotland and has played a key role in Scottish history. Royalty and distinguished guests have been entertained here since the 16th century by the Maitland family, who still reside at the castle today and would be delighted to provide a personal welcome for your guests.
BEAUTIFUL ROOMS
The sumptuously decorated State Drawing Room is the centrepiece of Thirlestane Castle. Its exquisite original Dunsterfield ceilings are some of the finest in Europe. The elegant State Dining Room has an impressive collection of family paintings by famous artists, which add to the intimate atmosphere. For a different feel, there is our beautiful cobbled courtyard or our Old Kitchen which has a more contemporary vibe but maintains the vaulted ceiling and authentic Victorian range. There are also other unique spaces such as the vaulted Cellars.
DELICIOUS DINING EXPERIENCES
Our award-winning caterers ensure the food tastes as spectacular as the surroundings look. In such dramatic surroundings, a music recital or bagpipe workshop would be certain to delight your guests, or perhaps a whisky tasting.
EXTENSIVE GROUNDS
Thirlestane Castle has extensive experience of hosting large events such as the annual Vintage Motoring Extravaganza, attracting around 7,000 visitors. We can provide a wide range of activities including mini Highland Games, falconry or archery. For a summer garden party or to dance the night away under the stars, the Rose Garden or Front Lawn are ideal marquee spaces.
