Caledonian Hotel description
Hotel / Conference Centre
Medium (1-150)
Built in the early 1900s, the 83-bedroom Caledonian Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the area. It still boasts a quiet, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and pleasant gardens.
The Hotel overlooks Ullapool’s working harbour and the colourful fishing boats on Loch Broom. To the right of the hotel is the Fowler Memorial Clock – said to be the most photographed clock in the Highlands. It was first erected in 1899 in memory of Sir John Arthur Fowler (1817-1898) and his family who lived at Braemore House near Corrieshalloch Gorge. However, to help reduce traffic congestion, it was moved to its new home in West Argyle Street in the 1960s.
WEDDINGS
With its beautiful harbourside location and stunning gardens, the Caledonian Hotel offers the perfect setting for wedding celebrations.
The Hotel offers a complimentary planning service, where professional and experienced staff can coordinate every detail of the special day. From the transport and photography, to the flowers and seating plan, nothing will be left to chance.
As guests may well be coming from far and wide, friends and family of the bride and groom are given preferential accommodation rates.
In the run up to the big day, the Caley Inn is the perfect place to wine, dine and give guests a chance to socialise and meet each other before the wedding itself.
The Caledonian Hotel has a full licence for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, which means couples can host both their ceremony and reception at the hotel. After the ceremony, the wedding party can enjoy a champagne reception followed by a splendid meal. Once the speeches and toasts are over, guests can then dance the night away in the Mackenzie.
The Mackenzie Suite can be arranged in a variety of ways to suit the style of the occasion with capacity for 150 for wedding ceremonies, and up to 200 for a standing reception or 100 for a seated dinner.
