Blairquhan Castle is a Grade A listed building situated in the heart of the Ayrshire countryside. This magnificent example of stunning Regency architecture is more than just a property or a venue; it is part of Scotland’s rich heritage. With well-established grounds and a beautiful walled garden, Blairquhan Castle is the perfect choice for those with a discerning eye.

The castle as it stands today was completed in 1824. However, the original tower-house was erected on the site back in 1346 and, remarkably, only four families lived on the estate from that date until 2012 when the current owners, Ganten Scotland, bought the property.

Blairquhan was also used as a replacement for Balmoral Castle in the 2006 Oscar-winning motion picture ‘The Queen’, starring Helen Mirren, as well as featuring in many other films and television programmes.

Situated in the beautiful Ayrshire countryside, this remarkable piece of Regency architecture is far more than just a wedding venue - it has history, it has character, but most of all, it has charm. You couldn’t wish for a more romantic setting for your wedding day. Couple this with the phenomenal food and service that you will receive from our experienced team and you have the perfect recipe for the perfect day.

The spectacular saloon can comfortably seat up to 70 guests, along with 20 more around the impressive upstairs balcony. Once your vows have been exchanged you will no doubt be ready to enjoy a delicious bespoke meal, one that has been prepared using only the finest local, seasonal produce.

If you choose to make use of both the big and small drawing rooms we can seat up to 100 guests around our elegantly decorated round tables. The castle’s stunning dining room is the perfect setting for the traditional cutting of the cake, as well as for the evening buffet and the arrival drinks earlier in the day. Of course, if you would prefer to use another part of the castle for any of these we would be happy to accommodate your wishes.

Once the celebrations have come to a halt, you and your guests will want to retire to your respective rooms in either the castle itself or one of the eight cottages situated within the estate. Come the morning, you will all be able to reconvene in the dining room for a scrumptious breakfast before beginning the rest of your lives together.

Whether you have just had your wedding day, finished an exhausting round of business meetings or played a 36-hole golfing marathon at Turnberry and Royal Troon, you’re going to need somewhere to rest and recuperate. Our accommodation fits the bill nicely, and you’ll soon be soothed by the grand setting and the ever-welcoming, friendly staff here at Blairquhan.

You may decide to stay in the castle itself or choose to make use of one of the beautiful cottages that are available. Either way, you’re guaranteed to find everything to your satisfaction. Once fully rested you can explore the grounds of the estate and maybe even partake in a little fly-fishing on Blairquhan’s own small stretch of the River Girvan should you so desire.

The former European City of Culture, Glasgow, is only an hour away if you want to give your visit an urban edge. Widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest shopping cities, Glasgow also has a wealth of intellectual attractions including an assortment of museums, art galleries and concert halls.
