orton Village Hall dates back to the 1970s and is thankfully structurally sound. Unfortunately the size of the hall makes it difficult to heat. The oil heating system that was installed when it was built was not powerful enough, so it was removed and overhead electric heaters were installed instead. These are expensive and inefficient. However, new insulation in the hall and a hire charge that includes heating, now makes the hall usable through the winter. The kitchen has been renovated but the toilets are in need of updating.
