The Knighton Hotel description

Commercial Venue

Medium (1-150)

Weddings / Events

The Hotel sits at the very heart of Knighton, sixth largest town in the Welsh county of Powys, which straddles the English / Welsh border at a point some 50miles west of Birmingham. Knighton's railways station, on the 'Heart of Wales' line, is actually located in Shropshire, England, as are some of its inhabitants and part of its industrial centre. Its unique geographical position, standing as it does with a foot in each country, made Knighton a key strategic location during the Welsh uprisings of the 11th Century, and the later Welsh Revolt led by Owain Glyndwr against the rule of Henry IV. It was during this revolt that Knighton's Castle, and much of the town itself, were destroyed in the siege of 1402 which saw the English retreat towards Pilleth (3 miles to the south). Here the decisive battle of the rebellion was fought between the forces of Glyndwr and Edmund Mortimer later that year.

The Knighton Hotel has arguably the best facilities in the area for both private and corporate functions. Located in the oldest part of the building, our five distinct function areas make ideal surroundings for everything from family gatherings, weddings or christenings, to company events or weekly club meetings. Whatever your requirements, from twenty people to two hundred, The Knighton Hotel can cater to your individual and specific needs.

Our Function Suite has direct access from both the Hotel, and the street and can be used completely separately from the main building, with its own, fully equipped bar and kitchen area. Stairs from the Hotel Lobby lead directly to the Mezzanine floor, and large double doors on the first floor, accessible via the central lift, lead to Offa's Lounge and the Main Glyndwr Hall.
