Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust
RGHT is a new Charity (Charity Number 1157 164) formed in 2014 to care for and make accessible the heritage of the royal borough. The Trust is responsible for Charlton House, Greenwich heritage centre, museum collections and archive, tudor barn, Eltham and has a custodian role to a number of memorials in the borough.

The aims of the trust are:

To help people learn and find out about the history and heritage of our region
To care for our heritage buildings for the benefit of the public
To promote the use of the buildings, grounds and collections in our care
The Trust
The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed for a term of 3 years. We do have vacancies for specific skills. If you would be interested in applying to become a Trustee please contact us.

Learning
RGHT has a full time Learning Officer, and helping people learn about our heritage is key to our work. We are developing our programme all the time but a typical programme consists of :

Sessions for schools and other learners, such as colleges, universities, and other community groups
Guided tours and walks
Printed material and on line content
Our Project Work
We will be working on a number of projects over the coming months and years, many of them supported by grants from external funders such as Heritage Lottery Fund, Armed Forces Community Covenant and Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Our work currently focuses on the Great War. Following two successful grant applications we have researched the names on war memorials across the borough. We will be developing this work in 2015 as we explore the role of women on the Home Front at Charlton House, Progress Estate, Eltham and, of course, on the Woolwich Arsenal.

We will be recruiting volunteers for this project work in the coming months. If you are interested in developing heritage skills or just meeting some new people, please contact us.
