One Mayfair description

Commercial Venue

Medium (1-150)

uilt in 1825, One Mayfair opened its doors in 2009 to much acclaim. After years of neglect and lack of funding this historic Grade I listed building underwent months of refurbishment and was carefully restored, retaining all of its timeless majesty required to host a wide range of events. As one of the largest event spaces in the Mayfair area and with its opulent grandeur, it has consistently attracted luxury brands and hosted the most creative events for private clients. For this reason, it is sad to say that the venue will be closing its doors for the last time at the end of October 2015. So, if you are planning on hosting an event, please remember this will be your last opportunity at this stunning venue.
One Mayfair, formerly St. Mark’s Church was constructed between 1825 and 1828 in order to tackle the shortage of ‘church sittings’ in the area. At the time, the population in Mayfair had grown as a result of aristocrats and the wealthy from the country seeking city residences. The Grade I listed building was constructed in Greek revival style to the designs of John Peter Gandy. Gandy was highly regarded in Greek architecture and produced most of his work in neo-classical designs, with One Mayfair being one of the finest examples.
In 1878, Sir Arthur Bloomfield made significant changes to the church, such as the impressive timber roof covering the main body of the structure as well as extra features in gothic style. The 34 foot façade together with the elegant porch is known as one of the finest in London. The Grade I listed and deconsecrated building has been included on English Heritage’s ‘Buildings at Risk’ register for 20 years, until One Events managed to remove this listing in 2011.
