The Old House Inn, despite its name and age, is actually a new country dining pub with rooms. Situated just minutes from Gatwick Airport yet with a surprisingly remote feel, the Old House Inn has been recently renovated to an exceptional standard and has been transformed into a wonderful country pub offering outstanding food, drink and accommodation.

Latticed windows, wonky ceilings and oak-beams give away the age of this converted farm worker’s cottage which dates back to the early 16th century. Since this time, the Old House Inn has fulfilled a number of roles, including family home, Tea Rooms and most latterly a well regarded French Restaurant. However, so comfortable is it in its transformation, one can’t help but wonder if it shouldn’t have been a pub all along!

As the new owners, we are thrilled with the renovation. Think a series of interlinking rooms with low ceilings, nooks and crannies galore, warm rustic fabrics, comfy banquette seating and chunky leather armchairs. Retro accessories, copper, brass, candles and crackling log fires complete the look.

Aiming always to give you a great experience, food is simple yet cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Working with the freshest seasonal ingredients, sourced locally wherever possible, menus feature imaginative, modern British cuisine, as well as classic pub dishes. Our food is perfectly complimented by our welcoming bar that serves a great selection of real ales as well as having an excellent wine list.

Under the capable direction of Tim & Claudia Brown, service strikes the perfect balance between efficient and casual, warm and friendly. Situated on the edge of the village of Copthorne and just a short drive from Gatwick airport, we also have 6 stylishly decorated bedrooms overlooking our large mature garden.

Stylishly decorated pub accommodation a stone’s throw from Gatwick

At the Old House Inn we are delighted to offer 6 stylishly decorated en-suite bedrooms located in a converted barn overlooking our large garden.

All of the rooms are named after local woods and this woodland theme is much reflected in the decor of rich, earthy tones, contemporary furnishings and quirky original features. Super king size beds are complemented by Feather & Black bedding, luxury linens and in the upscale bathrooms lovely Branch d’Olive toiletries. Each room comes with a flat screen television with Freeview channels, data points to access the internet, tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryers. Irons and ironing boards are also available on request and a wide selection of hearty home-cooked breakfasts, fresh pastries and fruit salad are included in the room rate.

Family time

Staying with the family? We can also provide complimentary cots in any of our rooms whilst for children aged 12 and under, Z-beds can be arranged in both our Coombers and Stubbits rooms for a small additional charge of £15 per night including our delicious home-cooked breakfast.We also provide a library for adults and children and a selection of board games to while away lazy afternoons.

Dog friendly

Dogs are warmly welcomed at The Old House Inn and a number of our rooms are equipped for canine occupancy, offering a comfortable dog bed plus water bowl. We ask for a small charge of £10 per night per dog and also kindly request that you please be considerate of your neighbours and do not leave your dog alone in the room. If you wish to dine with your dog, please book a table in the bar where you will find a doggy treat or two on offer.

Coombers and Stubbits

With views looking out over our vast gardens and surrounding countryside, Coombers and Stubbits are extremely spacious double rooms on the first floor. They are accessed by a bespoke timber walkway and have particularly striking bathrooms with roll-top baths for the ultimate in relaxation.

Wellfield, Furzers , Perry and Winns

Wellfield, Furzers , Perry and Winns are all situated on the ground floor with direct access to our beautiful garden. Each of these contemporary stylish rooms have en-suite wet-rooms with a double shower head. Wellfield and Furzers also have the added benefit of an inter-connecting door, perfect for families.

Winns, our ‘easy access’ room, with wider doorways, accessible bathroom fittings and support handrails also includes zip and link beds to create either a twin or a super king size bed.
