Hangleton Manor Inn description
Pub / Restaurant
Medium (1-150)
Not only is The Hangleton Manor Brighton’s second most listed building (second only to the Royal Pavillion), the Manor is also the oldest domestic secular building in Brighton & Hove. Alongside such rich cultural and historical significance comes bags of unique, fascinating features and plenty of stories to tell.
Now a beautiful and historic pub-restaurant, the building dates back to as early as the 1500s.
According to an old story, oaks were cut from the woods surrounding Hangleton Manor to build Lord Nelson's fleet, and local folklore asserts that our 17th-century dovecote has been haunted by ghost pigeons since a monk - angered by the droppings left by the birds who lived inside - placed a curse on it.
Located on the edge of Hove, The Hangleton Manor has been wonderfully restored with a gorgeous large garden, and is convenient for exploring Brighton, the South Downs and the 3 mile long wild flower haven of Shoreham beach.
Hall and Woodhouse - one of the few remaining regional family brewers - bought the building in 2005, and operate the Manor in its current form - a stunning public house.
We've been brewing our award-winning Dorset Badger ales in Blandford and offering warm hospitality at our pubs for over 235 years. We use regional food partners, typically from family businesses like us, who provide us with quality ingredients that our team of talented chefs (not microwave technicians!) use to create fresh, unpretentious, seasonal dishes.
