The Dursley & District Community Association began life in 1974 when a group of local people came together to raise funds to build a community centre. Gloucestershire County Council leased some land at the Rednock School site and by 1979 a centre had been built. The new facility was openned by the Spinners, a popular vocal group, in December of that year. Over the years the centre expanded to include a lounge bar, an office and a large meeting room called the Walker Room. In 1992 the Dursley & District Community Association Social Club Limited was formed. The social club bar has recently been redecorated and prices are amongst the cheapest in town.

The Community Centre has function rooms for hire to members and non members for birthdays, anniversaries and Christenings. Full use of the kitchen is available for these hirings.

A bridge club meets every Thursday evening. There is a Friday Luncheon Club which provides a two course lunch for the elderly, volunteer helpers are always needed for serving and to provide transport. Other user groups include Probus, Castlegate Womens Institute, a motor cross club, an angling club and the very active Dursley & Cam Royal British Legion.
