A warm and friendly welcome is assured for all at The Black Lion, a privately owned village hotel with 10 marvellously comfortable rooms, a passion for great food, much of it regionally sourced, and real ale. Commanding a glorious position overlooking the green in Long Melford, this historic hotel is a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Relax in front of a roaring fire and feel like you have come home.
The Black Lion’s award-winning restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, offering a substantial menu featuring many hearty favourites including Estate potted hare and partridge pate, wholemeal toast or Angus oxtail & kidney suet pudding, truffle oil mashed potatoes, roast chantey carrots, red wine sauce and Slow roasted shoulder of pork stuffed with bramley apple and sage, fondant potatoes, Aspall Suffolk cider sauce. A relaxed Sunday at the Black Lion has become a tradition for many customers, enjoying roast Rib of Beef with all of the trimmings.
The Black Lion is a relaxed and intimate wedding venue for up to 70 guests. Within a short walking distance from the Holy Trinity Church the view overlooking the Long Melford’s green is really quite idyllic.
