Chaceley Village Hall description
Village Hall
Small (1-50)
The tiny village hall in the centre of the village was once the school. It was built in about 1855 and closed as a school in 1923. It became the village hall in 1980.
Chaceley Village Hall Committee is a registered charity entrusted to maintain the hall for the benefit of residents for recreation, meetings, lectures and classes.
Since 2003 a programme of restoration has been carried out. The roof has been lined and retiled, a disabled toilet facility installed, the hall itself has been refurbished including new heating and lighting and a new kitchen installed. All this work was designed to bring the hall up to 21st century standards to make it an attractive venue for use by residents the year round.
There is a premises licence covering the hall for the sale and provision of alcohol as well as live performances and the playing of music
The main annual fund raising activity is the summer Pig Roast held in July which attracts visitors from neighbouring villages and further afield. Since the completion of the restoration in 2005 a programme of winter events has also been held.
