The Assembly House is one of the city’s most prestigious addresses, with an enthusiastic, professional team, a confident style and a positive attitude. Our aim is to restore this stunning building to its former glories and to honour its illustrious past, which includes visits from Franz Liszt, Niccolo Paganini, Madame Tussaud and the famous Noverre dance family.

Recent refurbishment of the cloakrooms, kitchen and galleries is an indication of the new direction of the House. We have injected life into the Grand Hall with luxurious leather arm chairs, creating the ideal meeting place for a freshly-brewed cup of coffee and an indulgent slice of home-made cake. The restaurant boasts a fabulous menu, serving delicious breakfast dishes (from 10am to midday), signature salads, more-ish sandwiches and toasts as well as firm favourites such as sausages and mash. And don’t forget our popular afternoon tea, served on traditional tiered cake stands.

And the function rooms are stunning! There can be no more beautiful room in the city than The Music Room with its incredible chandeliers and minstrels’ gallery, making the perfect backdrop for a wedding. And with six sensational rooms from which to choose, including two ballrooms, we can cater for all manner of occasions, from conferences, product launches and exhibitions to private dining.

WEDDINGS

With its fabulous frontage and sweeping drive, The Assembly House provides the perfect backdrop for your special day. The lawn and courtyard are ideal for drinks and photographs, while the beautiful, Grade I-listed Georgian building boasts a wide selection of rooms to suit all sorts of occasions, from intimate gatherings for close family and friends to stunning wedding receptions for several hundred.

Georgina Postlethwaite and The Assembly House team have a wealth of experience in weddings and will be delighted to discuss your requirements with you. Every wedding is tailor-made, with the menus, décor and music to suit you so that your big day is as fabulous and memorable as possible.

The venue is licensed for civil and partnership ceremonies with a wealth of stunning rooms and settings from which to choose. This lovely building is also ideal for sophisticated hen parties and anniversary celebrations.

CONFERENCES

The Assembly House has six attractive meeting rooms which can accommodate everything from boardroom-style meetings to large corporate events.

If you’re after a bespoke event, we’ll be more than happy to help: simply select the room that you require and then add the services you need throughout the day.

Established as a venue to service the Arts, The Assembly House is well versed in hosting everything from concerts and exhibitions to plays. The wide mix of rooms on offer is ideal for all kind of art displays, from photographic exhibitions to 3D presentations, and the courtyard and gardens make the perfect backdrop for sculpture.

In addition, the beautiful ballrooms are ideal for live performances and recitals, from talks and lectures, poetry readings and recitals, to comedy nights and concerts.
