Rockingham Castle description
Commercial Venue
Medium (1-150)
Weddings / Events
Built by William the Conqueror, Rockingham was a royal fortress for 450 years & for the last 450 years home to the Watson family. Rockingham Castle, standing on an escarpment overlooking five counties makes an exceptional location for a civil wedding ceremony or a wedding reception
Civil wedding ceremonies & partnerships, with a maximum number of 100 guests (seated) can be held in the Great Hall and Panel Room between 10am and 6pm. If you are considering a church blessing, the beautiful Rockingham parish church, St Leonard’s, stands in the castle grounds just a short walk away. Consent for the use of the church is by separate arrangement with the parish vicar.
After the ceremony, you are welcome to use the gardens and grounds for formal photography. During this time, your guests may be entertained at a drinks reception in Walker’s House, which is part of the Castle and close at hand for guests to be called for photographs as required. Alternatively, if the weather is suitable drinks can be served on the Terraced Lawn with the backdrop of the Castle & stunning views over the Welland Valley.
