Our stunning Main Hall has all the grandeur you’d expect of a Regency building – beautiful high ceilings, stained glass windows, period features and an irresistible sense of space and light.

The Main Hall is a popular choice for weddings, private celebrations, networking events, conferences, exhibitions and much more. As the largest of our rooms available to hire, it can accommodate up to 200 people seated or 300 standing.

The Main Hall is located on the first floor with easy lift access. It also offers free WIFI and a fully integrated BOSE sound system. AV facilities can be set up in advance of your event.

Our Mayor’s Parlour is extremely popular for meetings and more intimate occasions. With huge sash windows offering glimpses of the River Tamar and a feature fireplace, it is an idyllic space that can
seat up to 70 people (dependent on room layout).

The Mayor's Parlour can be found on the first floor and is easily accessible via a staircase or lift access straight into the room. There is free WIFI, a fully integrated BOSE sound system and built in projector.

The Meeting Room on the ground floor is another perfect space for meetings - an intimate and formal setting, it can comfortably seat up to 12 delegates.

A projector can be set up in the room, and there is a free WiFi connection. Refreshments can also be set up in the Meeting Room, or in a separate breakout space nearby.

The Cells offer a more quirky and unique space for your meeting. With the exception of new lighting, the cells have not been changed in any way, retaining their original strong characteristic features. The room is a fantastic talking point and provides an insight into the building’s nearly 200 years of history!

The Cells can seat 6 – 8 people comfortably in its largest room. We have added a table and chairs in the room, making it a comfortable meeting space. Please note that due to its smaller size, we are unable to accommodate a projector in this room.

There are two smaller cells which are also available should you need them for breakout spaces (although there is only standing room in these).

The Cells are also often host to art exhibitions and private parties, and can be hired as part of our wedding packages.

Adjacent to Devonport Guildhall is Devonport Column. One of the few remaining commemorative columns in the country that are open to the public, Devonport Column offers a viewing platform at 124feet – one of the highest public viewing points in the city. Climb the 137 steps of the spiral staircase at the centre of the Column to the observation gallery above, which offers spectacular vistas across the city, towards Dartmoor and out to sea.

For people who don’t want to, or aren’t able to climb the 137 steps to the top, our ColumnCam – a state of the art webcam fixed to a mast on top of the Column – will soon relay views from the gallery to visitors on the ground.

As part of our wedding offer we are proud to present our exclusive Column Champagne Package. With spectacularly romantic views across Plymouth Sound, and the view of your guests on the Plaza below, toasting your nuptials with a glass of bubbly has never been so magnificent!

The Column Bakehouse is an award-winning* artisan bakery open from Mondays to Saturdays from 10am until 4pm and serves homemade bread, cakes, pastries, soup and more lunchtime treats. It is situated in the historic Devonport Guildhall, with direct access to the rest of the building.

We pride ourselves on quality, reasonably priced and, most importantly, delicious food! We use fresh, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, supporting local farmers and traders – everything we sell is made or baked in-house.

We are currently developing our Column Bakehouse offer and our artisan bakery has recently been expanded.

As well as baking fresh food in-house, we have started to provide our handcrafted bread to local cafés, shops and markets, including the Fairport stall at Plymouth City Market.
