Higher Melcombe Manor description
Hotel / Conference Centre
Medium (1-150)
Michael and Lorel are delighted to welcome you to their home, the Grade I listed Higher Melcombe Manor.
Melcombe nestles in its own beautiful valley in the heart of Dorset, with far reaching views over fields and woodland and in the middle of its own estate. The approach is by a private road along an avenue of lime trees, then under the magnificent copper beech to the garden.
There are three sumptuous double rooms and one single, each with its own ambience - from linenfold panelling and fine plaster ceilings, carefully restored by a local master craftsman - to the new rooms on the second floor with the brand new ensuite bathrooms.
Higher Melcombe Manor is a peaceful place, whether you want to explore historic mid-Dorset, tramp the byways of the Wessex Ridgeway to the Dorset Gap - or just relax by the side of the fire with a good book. The two acre garden wraps around the house, to south, east and west.
WEDDINGS
The Great Hall can be booked for Civil Ceremonies, weddings and naming ceremonies. The Drawing Room and the Dining room are also licensed - ideal if you are having a small group. It's essential to book the Registrar separately if you want them to officiate.
There is a fee payable direct to Dorset Registration for this and we are happy to hold a date for you whilst you book your slot in the Registrar's diary.
More information on the Dorset For You web page.
CONFERENCES
Whether you want to meet to make money, or just benefit from bonding, then the Melcombe magic may be the answer.
Content is crucial (down to you), but ambience is essential too (let us take care of that). We are not of the blue serge chairs brigade, but if you plan an effective event, then we are the place. Our maximum number in the Great Hall is 38, and 10 in the Dining Room - though this can expand to 12 for simpler place-settings. Lavish lunches or simple suppers.
The Drawing Room is ideal for meeting and greeting, with huge log fire, and if the weather is kind, then wandering around the garden is great for small group chats.
