Integrated Projector and Audio System

17 September 2024

The Trustees of the Steeple Morden Village Hall Committee wishes to publicly acknowledge and express its gratitude to the National Lottery Community Fund team for a very generous grant to purchase much needed technical equipment for the hall.

The funding has allowed us to install an integrated projector and audio system with Bluetooth HDMI and wireless connectivity for Movie, Music and presentation purposes. This now makes the hall a most attractive venue for conference, presentation and private film shows.

If you have, or are thinking of, booking the village hall and wish to make use of these facilities, please make contact with us

Kitchen refit with help of The National Lottery Community Fund

18 January 2024

Steeple Morden Village Hall has refitted kitchen with help from The National Lottery Community Fund

14th January 2024

Steeple Morden Village Hall trustees have had the Hall kitchen completely refitted with the help of a grant of £ 10,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Trish Burton, the treasurer, secured the grant and played a major part in selecting appliances and fixtures and fittings for the new kitchen. She and Brian Burton oversaw the work which was carried out in the weeks running up to Christmas 2023.

The new kitchen now includes an instant, near-boiling hot water tap for serving drinks and a high-speed dishwasher. A new cooker with double oven and new refrigerator complete the appliances. A wall-mounted electric heater has also been added.

This improvement is just the latest that has been undertaken to ensure that Steeple Morden has a practical and well-appointed Village Hall for the community to use.

Trish and Brian managed what was a complicated project, seeing it through to a very satisfactory completion. The committee of trustees thanked them for all their work on this.

Steeple Morden Village Hall gets roof insulation with help of The Big Lottery Fund

30 April 2018

Steeple Morden Village Hall gets roof insulation with help of The Big Lottery Fund

Steeple Morden Village Hall Committee has secured a grant which covers adding roof insulation to the Village Hall, the work was completed in April 2018.

With roof insulation, we not only hope to save money on heating bills but also increase the energy rating of the hall.

After a great deal of effort, Trish Burton, the hall treasurer, won a grant from The Big Lottery for £6,516.  The insulation cost us £5,955.75 and, of course, we have returned the excess back to The Big Lottery.

We are delighted with to, finally, be able to complete this project and continue to achieve our aims to make YOUR Village Hall the best it has ever been.

Steeple Morden Village Hall is run by a Committee comprising of:

Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Bookings Clerk, Parish Council Representative, Hall User Representatives and other elected member.

We meet, generally, every 6 weeks and the meeting usually lasts for about one hour.

The Committee Members are also Trustees of the Village Hall and, as such, our responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Income & Expenditure: managing the finances to ensure reasonable rates for the hall hirers whilst ensuring we pay the bills and plan for the halls sustainability
  • Fundraising: for larger projects we rely on grants and money from the public.  Fundraising is ongoing and, in the last few years we have raised near to £100K which has provided: a total refurbishment of the toilets and entrance hall, induction loop, entire redecorating, hall floor refurbishment. In the next few months, we will be adding roof insulation to the hall.
  • General maintenance, health & safety, risk management and cleaning
