The old great hall of the castle is part of the original 11th century build. The original portcullis door still exists also adding dramatic effect and a romantic nature upon entering the room.
With its open log fire, carved ceiling, quirky slabbed floor and four supporting pillars the entire room transports you into a world of its own.
Set up in traditional banquet style, equipped with 8ft solid oak tables and long benches it is a perfect location for dining and celebrating for larger groups

The dining room is fabulously decorative and the perfect location for those more intimate celebrations. Whether it be your wedding ceremony or breakfast buffet, this room is guaranteed to make your day memorable.
Equipped with an antique, solid oak 15ft table, this can be utilised for dining for small groups of up to 20 people. Alternatively, this table can become the happy couple's head table, while our equally decorative banquet tables cater for the rest of the wedding party.
As mentioned, this room can also be the perfect spot to exchange your wedding vows. What place could be better than to declare your love for one another than in the very room historical figure and once prestigious owner of Appleby Castle itself, Lady Anne Clifford, spent many years in the company of her close family and friends.
