Wheatsheaf Combe Hay description
Commercial Venue
Medium (1-150)
Combe Hay is an old settlement, in fact it was listed in The Domesday Book in 1085. The canal and railway have come and gone but the valley and it's people remain as an example of a surviving English village, in fact it was recently named as one of the most desirable villages in England by The Times.
The Wheatsheaf was originally a farmhouse built in 1576 and parts of the present building date back to the 16th century. It began opening it's doors as a Public House in the 18th century
and has been welcoming locals and travellers alike for Good Food, Real Ale and Fine Wine ever since.
Today it is a haven of contemporary rustic chic, preserving the best of the past and enhancing the present. Real Ales, local Cider and an impressive, as well as attractively economical Wine List are still available from the Bar and only the very best of local and home grown produce is used in the preparation and cooking of the stylish and mouth-watering food in the Restaurant. The open log fire warms and welcomes in the Autumn, Winter and the Terrace and garden beckon in the spring and summer months-
The Wheatsheaf is a place for all seasons, for resting, relaxing and the fine things in life...
Polite Dogs are welcome at The Wheatsheaf Combe Hay, our own dogs, Milo the old Cocker and Brie a young Springer Spaniel live at The Wheatsheaf.
