Village Hall for Hire in Hulland Ward

Hulland Ward Village Hall or to use its full title Hulland Ward and District Millennium Village Hall is a great asset for the Village and surrounding areas.

The Hall is a charity and the trustee is the Parish Council who devolve the running of the Hall to the Hall Advisory Committee.

Hall History

The Hall has its origins as the Village Institute, a working men’s club which opened in 1900.  The building was situated on the main road next to the present shop and filling station.

Towards the end of the last century, it was obvious the building needed replacing and the Parish Council were successful in receiving a grant from the Millennium Commission. The present Hall opened on its new site on Dog Lane in 2000.

There are 12 organisations that are regular users ranging from Pilates groups to the WI.

The Hall is available for hire, residents who live locally receiving a reduced hire charge. It is a great venue for all sorts of parties, weddings, corporate functions, training days and fund-raising events.

The approach to Hulland Ward is via a hill.

One section of the road is lined with tall trees which provide a ‘tunnel’ effect.

Emerging from this ‘tunnel’, you will see the Victorian ‘Old Rectory’ on the left and then, across a field, the Church.

Indicate to turn left and begin to slow.
As the road climbs and curves to the right, the brick-built Village Hall is on the left. There is a sign posted ‘Village Hall’.

At the T-junction, it is a sharp turn onto Dog Lane, and needs careful negotiation – especially if traffic is coming up the Lane to the junction.

The Village Hall entrance is a few yards down on the left.

Follow all signs for Derby University, Kedleston Hall, and Allestree to join the ‘Kedleston Road’, a long road running from Five Lamps (A6), out of Derby, through Allestree, turning left (before Quarndon village), passing the Kedleston Hotel, the Golf Club and Kedleston Hall (National Trust).

Once past Kedleston Hall, continue through the small village of Weston Underwood, up a steep hill, and drive by the ‘The Cock Inn’. The road winds its way through open countryside dipping and rising.

After a stretch of high ground with a long parking area on the right, you will approach a forked junction. Slow down, take the left turn downwards. Continue down, through a crossroads, over a bridge and up a long, climb. This approach to Hulland Ward takes you past ‘The Black Horse Inn’ (on your right) to an uneven crossroads.
