Welcome to the Arkell Community Centre
The Arkell is a friendly, welcoming place at the heart of community life. The centre provides many opportunities to try out new activities, meet people with similar interests, and to make friends and get to know people in the local community.
The Arkell Community Centre is owned and operated by the Arkell Community Centre Charitable Trust Fund (Charity Number: 1138668) with Nailsworth Town Councillors as sole Trustee, and the Clerk to the Town Council as Secretary to the Trust.
Opened in 2011 with two main objectives: to support the regeneration of Forest Green and to improve community facilities in the area. The centre currently hosts a wide variety of regular activities, clubs, social groups and once a week operates as local food bank.
The Arkell Community Centre is a striking contemporary building that has cutting-edge green technology. The building has an ‘A’ energy rating.
There are two halls for hire, a fully equipped kitchen and disabled access.

The Arkell Bequest, from the will of Frank Arkell, Town Mayor from 1980 - 1982, provided £300,000 to start a fund to construct and fit out the community centre. Funded through various grants and donations the centre was proposed by a working party made up of Forest Green Rovers Association and Nailsworth Town Council. The final design chosen by public consultation then in 2011 the centre was officially opened. You can find out more about the funding and history here.
