Rennington Village Hall

The Village Hall is held as a charitable trust for the benefit of local residents living in the small rural communities of Rennington, Rock and Stamford, known collectively as Rennington Parish.

These three picturesque villages are located about 4 miles northeast of Alnwick and about 4 miles from the beautiful Northumberland Heritage Coast.  The Parish has expanded in recent years and now has around 350 houses, All Saints Church, Rennington, The Church of St Philip and St James, Rock, The Horseshoes Pub and the Village Hall. Rennington is also the home of a popular annual Scarecrow Festival, which is now in its twentieth year, and which takes place over the three days of the August Bank holiday weekend.

The Village Hall was formerly the village school.  It is a traditional stone-built school which opened in 1894 to replace the old school (now a private dwelling) for 60 children and was expanded 10 years later to accommodate 120 pupils but as farming and schooling practices changed numbers fell and it closed as a school in 1982 with just 6 pupils and was adapted to become The Village Hall in the mid 1980’s.

“The property hereby demised shall be held upon trust for the purposes of a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of the Parish of Rock and Rennington in the County of Northumberland.”

The Lease of the Village Hall Dated 21st March 1984

Situated in the centre of the village overlooking the Village Green, the Hall is fully accessible (ramp or steps).  The Hall is centrally heated and has a Main Hall which can be used for larger events, classes, concerts etc and a smaller room suitable for smaller gatherings, use as a bar or as an extension of the main hall.  There is a kitchen (equipped with range cooker, dishwasher, good working space and with a good supply of crockery, cutlery and glasses) and toilets, including disabled facilities

There is no formal car park but there is ample space for parking on the Village Green which is directly outside. The Hall is just a short walk from The Horseshoes pub and the Village Church.

The Hall is in an attractive, peaceful village setting and provides a wonderful venue for functions such as small wedding receptions, parties, children’s birthdays, concerts, training events, fitness and educational classes.
