The parish is about 10 miles (16 km) south-east of Oxford and includes the villages of Stadhampton and Chiselhampton and hamlets of Brookhampton and Ascott The 2011 census recorded the parish's population as 832.
The local district council is South Oxfordshire District Council and the county council is Oxfordshire County Council.
The Parish Council meets monthly in the Village Hall, St John the Baptist Church usually on the third Monday of each month at 7.30pm with meetings alternating between Full Council meetings and Planning meetings. The Annual Parish Meeting is usually held in May.
