Originally founded in 1963, the youth club, which eventually became the BYCC, suffered a period of decline in the 1990s until the Steyne Park building was reinvigorated in the last decade after being awarded a Big Lottery grant and was rebuilt to include a hall, lounge bar, kitchen and a large terrace ideal for watching local football matches. Retired village policeman Ray Rowsell, who was responsible for starting the youth club in 1963, opened the refurbished Centre in 2006.
